Born in Colombia in 1954, Gustavo Garcia "El Pantera" is a pioneering Colombian salsa musician, composer, arranger, and vocalist. He began his professional career at just 16 years old, earning early recognition that led him to work with Julio Ernesto Estrada ("Fruko y sus Tesos"), one of the architects of Colombia's salsa movement.

Known especially for his mastery of the trombone, El Pantera performed alongside many of the leading artists of New York's legendary salsa scene and released acclaimed recordings, including Pantera (1979), which is now available as an official reissue under Discos G.

With a career spanning more than five decades, El Pantera continues to be celebrated as one of Colombia's most distinctive and influential salsa artists.
